A French story

The Himalaya model was born from a discussion between Fred Lip, a mountain enthusiast, and his friend Lionel Terray, a high mountain guide. Maurice Herzog, a friend of Fred Lip, also contributed greatly to the success of this watch. Maurice Herzog was the first mountaineer to climb Annapurna. Advertisements from 1959 stated that it had been chosen by nine out of ten of the "Greats" of mountaineering for its astonishing resistance to the elements and shocks.
