The Seiko 5 collection was born in 1963 with the Sportsmatic 5, the first automatic day-date watch in Japan. The name "5" refers to five essential characteristics: automatic movement, day-date display, water resistance, shock resistance, and a recessed crown. In 1968, Seiko launched the 5 Sports line to attract a young and sporty clientele. This collection was an immense success, with over 5 million units sold in Japan in 1967, surpassing total Swiss production. The SNZG13J1 perpetuates this heritage with its military design inspired by pilot's watches. Made in Japan, it embodies Seiko's technical excellence in an accessible and robust format.
