A French story

From the mid-1960s, the LIP design office was busy producing a quartz caliber (T24). Intended to be placed in ladies' watches, this caliber, which used a simplified time setting, was definitively developed at LIP in 1969 by Robert Bischoff, Gérard Falin, André Voisard and Roland Plumet. LIP's technical services improved the T24 by making the central second hand more reliable.

The LIP Churchill T24 is a direct descendant of the iconic T18, created in 1933 by André Donat with its revolutionary 18mm wide "T" (tonneau-shaped) movement. This Art Deco rectangular watch enjoyed immense success, with over 400,000 units produced until 1949. The story took on historical significance in 1948 when the French government presented a gold-plated T18 to Sir Winston Churchill in gratitude for his services to France during World War II. This T18 thus became one of the most famous watches in French watchmaking. The T24 perpetuates this heritage by adopting the aesthetic codes of the Churchill while adapting to contemporary tastes. Slightly enlarged to 24mm wide (hence its name T24), it retains the characteristic double sunray dial and the small seconds sub-dial at 6 o'clock.
